Changing the iPhone ringtone length

by Peter Chodyra on Monday, August 13, 2012 3:23 PM

A few things you need to know first. It seems that you set the ring time to be between 5 and 30 seconds. I have tested 5, 10 and 20 but cannot see why it wouldn’t work for more. I timed the ring tone each time and it is almost exact to the second. By default I believe the iPhone is set to 20sec before it goes to Voice mail.

The next thing is you need is your voice mail access number. You can find it by dialing *#61# on your iPhone keypad and pressing Call. You should then see a response from the carrier that should look something like this: Setting Interrogation Succeeded Voice Call Forwarding When Unanswered Forwards to +1XXXXXXXXXX Enabled

... The +1XXXXXXXXXX is your Voice mail number so take note of it..

Now to change the length of your ringtone, dial the following on your iPhone keypad

- where +1XXXXXXXXXX is the Voice mail number you noted.

- where TT is the length of your iPhone’s ring time in seconds e.g. 5, 10, 15 etc.

Finally press the Call button.

Example: My Voice mail Number is +6198765432

So I dial *61*+6198765432*11*20# then press Call.

If everything went as planned you should get the following response: Setting Activation Succeeded Voice Call Forwarding When Unanswered

Although this procedure was tested on Australian major Telecom networks, please use at your own risk!

Good luck.
